Foley, Craig, Vitter, Ensign, Sanford, Gibbons, Fossella…

Republican Party leader Rush Limbaugh defends Sanford’s infidelity by saying that he was fed up with Obama.

“This is almost like, ‘I don’t give a damn, the country’s going to Hell in a handbasket, I just want out of here,’” said Limbaugh. “He had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn’t want any part of it. He lost the battle. He said, ‘What the Hell. I mean, I’m — the federal government’s taking over — what the Hell, I want to enjoy life.

So naturally Sanford would want to take off to a country that has a public health care option and has normal, friendly relations with Hugo Chavez who paid off a third of their debt to the IMF.

  1. Reggie Greene / The Logistician Says:

There is a very simple reason why disgraced politicians should immediately resign no matter what the offense, or the talent they may possess which could benefit society: in this partisan, acrimonious, political environment in which we currently live, and at this point in time in our nation’s evolution, any elected official needs as much support from his constituency which he or she can gather. After the offense, that support base will undoubtedly diminish, and render their service less effective.
