How to take America back from the librulz. (Hint: It involves guns)

I know, I know. Big shocker.

I used to think that Fox had Glenn Beck around so that if something truly hideous were to occur (like a Federal Census worker being hanged with the word “Fed” scrawled on his chest, for instance) he would provide cover for the crazies that are higher up on the totem pole. My mistake was assuming that any of them could be held accountable for what they say. It’s obvious that they simply don’t give a shit what happens.

That’s funny what she said about child care workers and psychology. Having the same degree, I shudder at some of the crazy nonsense I hear coming from the young and old “grandmotherly” types. Parents are best, of course, but that child care sounds fantastic!

  2. Zach Rock Says:

How is what she’s saying crazy?

She’s just describing what happened to Germany when Hitler came to power. I thought this was common knowledge.

  3. jeromy Says:

    Zach the Enabler continues.

I just don’t buy it, Zach. You can’t be that accidentally stupid over and over again. You know damn well she’s stoking the Nazi/Commie Obama fears, directly and openly.

What is it with you that makes you want to diminish that, and claim she’s just some lady talking about Nazy Germany, with no connection to Obama? That sounds like some drunk making an excuse, or a child, not a rational position.

You seem to want us to believe, Zach, that you’re an honest individual. The best way to do that, I can advise you, is to actually start behaving that way. If you want to explore truth and be rational, we are your friends. If you’re just going to keep posting bad excuses for stupidity, then we ain’t.

  4. Coralville Jim Says:

Jeromy, I think you should form an Iowa Liberal Militia. We could all go out to the shooting range to prove that liberals own guns too. I’ll bet we could even get media coverage! And then we all go out for falafel and beers ;>

  5. mike Says:

Jeromy, I think you should form an Iowa Liberal Militia. We could all go out to the shooting range to prove that liberals own guns too.

Which would soon be followed by frantic cries of “stateside jihadists” from Hugh Hewitt and Dr. Laura. Seriously, though, isn’t that WHAT THE NAZIS DID?!!?!

  6. Coralville Jim Says:

Well the beer part is obvious but I didn’t know about the Nazi/Falafel connection. Are you saying I godwinned myself in my first post? This is not a very auspicious start to the militia.

  7. Zach Rock Says:

I thought the parallels were pretty clear.

Keep in mind I don’t care that it’s Obama in the white house currently. We’ve had this sort of thing happen for the past decade under Bush and it’s only continuing under Obama.

So it’s only cool to say that Bush is like Hitler for expanding government that he doesn’t need to and or have the authority to, but when Obama does that exact same thing with the Health Care bill and keeping the Patriot Act alive it’s suddenly stoking fear into America and racist to compare him to Hitler?

That seems like a double standard. It may be just me.

You know that given her experience in Germany during when Hitler came to power, you’d think that you’d give her a little more credibility that you give the crazies?

  8. sg Says:

Ha! Zach is a comedian. Yes, trying to help people and genocide are perfect parallels.

  9. jeromy Says:

Define “exact same thing,” Zach. I don’t think it means what you think it means. Like sg said, what about health care reform is like putting Jews in ovens?

And how do you explain the fact that everybody there clapping was cheering Bush his entire eight years? I’m happy to take a crack at Obama for continuing certain Bush policies, but that ain’t the reason the teabaggers are so interested in what this woman is saying.

  10. jeromy Says:

Coralville Jim: Damn straight. My dad, a staunch Democrat, has an arsenal in the house, and I was raised around guns.

Of course, I think this reality has sunk in somewhat with Democrats, who have backed down on gun control laws. When my dad comes back from a gun show, he talks like he was the only Democrat there. How many of those guys are single issue voters? I dunno, but it’s pointless to alienate them with excessive regulation.

  11. Descent Says:

    @Glibertarian Zach:

Are you aware that this BS about being called a racist if you disagree with Obama comes straight from RNC talking points? If you don’t want to be called a concern trolling winger than stop talking like one.

NOBODY is calling tea-baggers racist for disagreeing with Obama. They’re calling them racist because they’re protesting policies that they had absolutely no problem with until January 10th when a man of color became president. Ignorant bi-partisanship? Perhaps. But when the primary activity is toting around signs of the president in black-face while questioning his citizenship I don’t think that whining about being called a racist is exactly honest or noble.

If you have to preface what you’re saying with “I’m not a racist but…” then you’re a fucking racist, Zach.

  12. Zach Rock Says:

    So we’re ignoring history now?

I thought that in ACTUAL history, Hitler came to power saying that he was going to help the German people. He specifically did that by laying out massive social programs (and here’s where you’ll probably stop listening) that were intended to help the German people and he also built up the military.

Hitler also had a national health care plan that involved an emphasis on preventative care and more specifically he had the largest governmental anti-tobacco crack down in the world.

Hmm, that sounds familiar. Unless of course you want to believe that Hitler came into power by throwing Jews into ovens and declaring war on his own people.

Also I’d really like to know how you have this knowledge that every person who was there agreed with Bush? Because, from my own personal experience, which isn’t fact, I’ve seen a growing anger at Bush from many people on the right. This anger is coming to a point now when politicians are outright lying to the American people.

Descent, I wasn’t aware I was being called racist. So far you guys haven’t said one word to me about it. As for saying that everyone in the Tea Party movement didn’t have a problem with the government until a black man came into office is just ridiculous. How do you know that? Can you prove it?

  13. mike Says:

He specifically did that by laying out massive social programs (and here’s where you’ll probably stop listening) that were intended to help the German people and he also built up the military.

Are you trying to establish a Medicare analogue here? Does Federal funding for interstate highways reek of fascism to you, Zach?

As for saying that everyone in the Tea Party movement didn’t have a problem with the government until a black man came into office is just ridiculous. How do you know that? Can you prove it?

Sure. No tea-bagging pre-January when all of these insidious Big Government programs like TARP were being instituted. And what do you think all of this bother over Obama’s birth certificate is about? Let me guess, you think that “there are certain aspects of the situation that raise questions.”

  14. Zach Rock Says:

Actually the Interstate Highway system does stink of Facism, yes. In case you don’t know, the highways were not built for the purpose of interstate travel for the common citizen. The highway system is designed for the sole purpous of transporting military troops throughout the country.

Know I don’t know about you, but a system that is designed for troop transport anywhere in the country sounds slightly facist.

I’ll give you that the Tea Party didn’t show up until April. However, that doesn’t mean that people weren’t upset before hand at the amount of Federal Expansion. There has been a growing anger at Washington that started around the last year of Bush’s presidency. TARP had a major effect on it because people started to wake up and realized what it cost them.

As for my personal take on the birth certificate. I wish he would just release the damn thing and be done with it. I think he’s American and I recognize him as the President of the United Sates but he should just shut the birthers up once and for all and be done with it.

  15. jeromy Says:

And Zach veers into wackyboy territory.

Zach, you clearly aspire to be thought of as a credible, intellectually honest thinker. Yet you can’t resist the sickly sweet crazy candy.

Gotta pick one or the other, man. C’mon now…

  16. mike g Says:

Actually the Interstate Highway system does stink of Facism, yes.

So I can expect demonstrations throughout the red states protesting the disproportionality of their benefit of this hideous, fascistic system?

There has been a growing anger at Washington that started around the last year of Bush’s presidency. TARP had a major effect on it because people started to wake up and realized what it cost them.

Yet there was nary a peep until Barack HUSSEIN Obama became president.

I wish he would just release the damn thing and be done with it.

That wouldn’t resolve jack shit and you know it. I don’t know why you want a paint a happy face on these loons but do you honestly think that anything is going to make these people back off? The psychology of a conspiracy theorist is such that proof contrary to their beliefs is evidence of further conspiracy.

You know what might clear this up for good, though? A special prosecutor!!

  17. lil sis Says:

Seriously, Zach. I’m still curious about this Hitler reference. How in the world does wanting social programs and health care = Hitler? It’s so silly. Didn’t Hillary Clinton fight for these things? Is she Hitler, too? I want these things, Zach. If were to run for public office…I guess I would be Hitler. How many politicians for how many years in how many countries run for office on this platform? How many doctors believe in preventative care? (Hint: all of them!) The logic is as sound as saying that if you are German and have a funny mustache…you are HITLER! I guess I’d better never run for office…because I took German in high school!!! Wahrheit macht du frei!

  18. Zach Rock Says:

The difference being, lil sis, all of those things can happen without big government intervention. I’m not seriously suggesting that Obama is going to kill the jews, or any other people for that matter, but he is expanding our government into places that they have no place in. Bush did the same thing and now Obama is doing it.

Hitler did it too and it’s a fair comparison to a point. The point being that we are coming close, how close is yet to be see, to having a nanny state capable of controlling our lives.

I forgot to say that I do enjoy the Highway system and it’s a very convenient system, albeit a poorly run system, I still enjoy it. However, it could be run without government.

Mike, I know that. However, if it was released and proven that it was real by multiple sources it would stop the growth of their movement and people who were on the fence about it off of the fence. I wasn’t speaking about what I think about them. I think that the birthers are idiots and just there to exploit people. However, I separate the birthers from the Tea Party movement because they’re not the same thing. Besides you asked for my personal take on it and that’s how I answered before.

Also where were you looking, because I recall people being angry and when the TARP money was announced? The big Tea party movement started on April 15th. Not January. It would’ve happened if McCain had been president.

  19. jeromy Says:

Nazis were against unions and high business taxes!

There’s a point where you’re just using Hitler’s name for shock value without explaining what’s bad or wrong. When you’re pointing to our interstate system and calling it fascist, the only message you’re really sending is that fascism must have had a few good ideas.

The failure of Hitler and the Nazi Party didn’t have much to do with health care or building roads. It was about eugenics, genocide, and trying to conquer Europe. Your comparisons are about as useful as pointing out that Hitler brushed his teeth, so we should avoid doing so.

  20. Zach Rock Says:

I did say that I do enjoy the Highway system, right? Oh, look, there it is.

I think the Highway System would’ve been adopted anyway. It makes more sense, however, the point is the first highways in the world were built in Germany for troop movement. That is totalitarian.

I’m not rejecting things, like the highway system, because I have this somehow misguided thought they come from Germany so they must be evil. I’m rejecting what’s happening right now because it’s expanding government intervention where the government has no right to be.

So Jeromy, what you’re saying is that since we aren’t going to kill Jews, or any other people anytime soon, we should ignore the fact that America is taking steps similar to what happened in pre-war Germany?

If you don’t like the German comparison how about Venezuela? We’re starting to slowly resemble them now too, but you might think that’s a good thing. Oh well.

  21. jeromy Says:

So you’re just going to spam “steps similar to what happened in pre-war Germany” without addressing or, apparently, understanding what I just said to you.

If you’re talking about repealing the worst parts of the Patriot Act or the Military Commissions Act of 2006, or ending the Drug War, then maybe we have something to talk about. If you’re talking about health care reform, then you’re pissing on the memory of the dead.

    So which is it?

  22. Zach Rock Says:

You know I support repealing the Patriot Act, in its entirety, along with the Military Act of 2006 and ending the Drug War.

I don’t want any of it happening because the Federal Government has no right to do any of that according to the constitution. The same goes for Health Care.

If you give the government an inch it will take everything it can. There are other ways of reforming Health Care than having a public option. However, the Democrats in Washington will have none of it. Because apparently it’s not change unless they get their way.

As for my Germany comments, I said it before, it’s a fair comparison to make. Up to a point. We haven’t reached the point where we’re killing people as part of a eugenics program. So anyone can still make the comparison between the US and Germany.

So, I guess, according to you I’m pissing on the memory of the dead along with wanting to bring back some personal freedom to American.
