Maybe if rightwingers could demonstrate basic science skills, they’d be taken seriously?

Anybody talking about the snowstorms disproving global warming is either a huckster or a fool, plain and simple.  Either they know the science and are trying to spread propaganda to counter it, or they simply don’t know the science. Help me out on a third option if you can think of one…

Ratigan is shouting into the wind. Beck’s audience isn’t exactly looking for a reasoned debate. They’re looking for somebody to tell them that they’re correct in their assumptions.

The problem is the Global Warming folks come out in Armagedeon predictions that have no room for discussion, no room to debate, and tell everyone the science is settled, therefore submit. And if you show one iota of skepticism, you are worse than a holacaust denier. Doesn’t leave much room for debate.

Fifteen months ago Robert Kennedy predicted DC would never see snow again. So, I guess DC got 44 inches of illusion.

No, Yorkshire. What happens is that global warming deniers continuously try to cast doubt on scientific research with non-scientific blather and then act like victims when they aren’t taken seriously. Remember a couple years back when you guys were all, “It’s just the sun getting hotter!” And then that turned out to be complete nonsense? Did we hear any mea culpas? No, the crusade just continued undisturbed.

Again, maybe if you guys could stop saying stupid things continuously, maybe you might be taken more seriously? I know it’s such a stretch…

Why should climate change scientists be held to the pronouncements of Robert Kennedy?

Denying global climate change is like Carl Sagan’s Cosmos for rednecks:

This is Galileo all over again except that everyone has access to telescopes and hundreds of years of scientific discovery yet still claim the sun revolves around the Earth.

You’re stepping into DanaPico territory there.

Climategate U-turn as scientist at centre of row admits: There has been no global warming since 1995

There has been no global warming since 1995
Warming periods have happened before – but NOT due to man-made changes

World may not be warming, say scientists
    Jonathan Leake
The United Nations climate panel faces a new challenge with scientists casting doubt on its claim that global temperatures are rising inexorably because of human pollution.

In its last assessment the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said the evidence that the world was warming was “unequivocal”.

It warned that greenhouse gases had already heated the world by 0.7C and that there could be 5C-6C more warming by 2100, with devastating impacts on humanity and wildlife. However, new research, including work by British scientists, is casting doubt on such claims. Some even suggest the world may not be warming much at all.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/do-cigarettes-cause-cancer-im-not-sure-says-boss-of-sued-tobacco-firm-735436.html

    From The Independent
    November 12, 2003

“Do cigarettes cause cancer? I’m not sure, says boss of sued tobacco firm.”
The head of Britain’s biggest tobacco company admitted yesterday that there was no such thing as a safe cigarette, but said he could not be sure smoking was linked to lung cancer.

I am pretty sure that cigarette companies, like any other producer of foods and goods, have fully tested their product and found that if it was indeed not safe then they would prevent their product from entering the market. The cigarette industry has nothing to gain by soliciting cancer causing products to the general public. The whole idea of monitoring, taxing, and suing tobacco companies is just another example of big government trying to push their liberal/socialist agenda while adding another tax on the lives of the good people enjoying a few relaxing puffs on a cigarette after a long day of work.

Seriously, why would BP, Shell, and other refineries be lobbying so hard against global warming? Is it that they have done their own scientific research and found no evidence? The good people of Exxon Mobil are concerned that Al Gore is spreading a lie so that he can make more powerpoint presentation? Really, did petroleum companies grow a conscience and suddenly feel the need to share the truth about climate change or the lack thereof? Companies who have a lot to lose will obviously try their hardest to stand in the way of what hurts their wallet, hence the tobacco industries denial that cigarettes cause cancer. Scientists can be bought just like anyone else and anyone doing paid “research” for a corporation can be called a scientist as well.

Global warming priest Phil Jones admits to no warming
There’s a great article at Power Line providing a run-down on an interview Phil Jones did with the BBC.

A snipet: ‘But it’s easy to understand why many have gotten excited about the interview that global warming high priest Phil Jones gave to the BBC. Jones was the director of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, whose emails, leaked by a whistle-blower, sparked a major scientific scandal. In some respects, Jones seemed candid in the BBC interview, if not remorseful. For example, he agreed that currently, the climate is not warming:’

And here’s something that is quite telling as to how Phil Jones and his global warming cohorts are cheaters: ‘So Jones admits that he and other climate alarmists have used tree ring data where they were helpful to the global warming theory and discarded them where they were not.’

“E – How confident are you that warming has taken place and that humans are mainly responsible?

I’m 100% confident that the climate has warmed. As to the second question, I would go along with IPCC Chapter 9 – there’s evidence that most of the warming since the 1950s is due to human activity.”

I don’t think you guys ever read the material that you link to.

And Mr. Thayer? Why don’t you at least practice a little intellectual honesty and write comments under a consistent handle instead of posting under different names and hoping that someone will think you’re a different person.
