That Sound You Hear

…are the gnashing teeth of angry people coming slowly around to the realization that their candidate is going to be Mitt Romney.

I want to be among the first to say that your tears taste delicious, and your candidate is hilarious.

Whoops! There goes that gallant denunciation of the Affordable Care Act by *insert GOP media star of the week here*.

  2. AJKamper Says:

He’s still the only candidate who can realistically defeat Obama. I’m not exactly jumping for joy here.

Well, it shouldn’t be so shocking that the opposition present a candidate at least basically electable. That would be the bare minimum, I should think, and the GOP’s story is that it has fallen so far that the double-talking handsome corporate spokesman is the best they can come up with that can even clear the bar.

The righties try to talk a load of shit about Obama, but the smart ones belie the fact that he’s going to be incredibly formidable, bad economy or not. There could be a better president than Obama, but they’d have to be to his left. His various “betrayals” have painted the Republicans into a corner. And Romney would run to the left of Obama if he could figure out how!

People will see what I’ve said a long time…Obama isn’t everything I’d hoped for, but he’s among the best as far as presidents go.

I am hoping for a Paul/Cain ticket. That would be sweet. The ebony-ivory of insanity.

  5. Thomas Tallis Says:

I disagree with almost every one of your points, Hank, but what the hell – better the awful president we’ve got than the worse one we might get from the Republicans.

Not sure what you’re disagreeing with, TT.

not eager to get all into-it but the scarequotes on “betrayals” here clearly mean “that’s not actually what they were”- I don’t think these really “paint the Republicans into a corner” so much as “make people who voted for him feel like chumps”

Some of them are betrayals. Nobody is immune to Obama Letdown Syndrome. But come on- much of the country has gone mad and the clowners in the GOP pool shouldn’t even be polling above thirty percent against Obama. Is he an awful president? Well, putting him up against other presidents post-Johnson (setting aside Johnson’s lil’ Vietnam issue) makes it a pretty simple answer: No way. Whatever kind of Scale of Awfulness it is, Obama is the least awful president of my lifetime. Ergo, the best.
