Time to defund the Army Corp of Engineers.

There’s no union-bashing angle so I won’t expect the usual howler monkeys to be screeching for the dismantling of the Corp of Engineers like they do every time somebody at NPR uses too much toilet paper or misplaces a receipt from Office Max.

WASHINGTON—Four Virginia men, including two longtime employees of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, were arrested today on charges stemming from an indictment that accuses them of taking part in a conspiracy involving more than $20 million in bribes and kickback payments and the planned steering of a $780 million government contract to a favored contractor.

Well, since Yorkshire has now retired from the Corps of Engineers, it wouldn’t bother him, but my older daughter is with the Corps, as an Army Reservist.

OK, so they caught some crooks; how does that mean the Corps should be defunded? We use the Corps of Engineers for all sorts of civilian projects, including a couple I’ve provided concrete for.

Maybe, since Richard Nixon was a crook, we should defund the Presidency . . . and kick Barack Obama back to Chicago. 🙂

Only if we can put Dick Cheney and George W. Bush on trial for war crimes.

It seems to be going over your head, Dana, that your defense also applies to Solyndra. Mike was being satirical, y’know.

Typical hypocritical Republican behavior. Love the Tea Party, hate the Occupy Wall Street crowd. And when something like the muffin story is shown to be a myth, no need for facts. Just keep repeating it over and over to their base like it is truth. This Army Corp story is no different than any other nonsense. How about queen Sarah Palin and her fraud bus tour of America? She took a lot more than a $16 breakfast from her followers. Her donors should be LIVID! Where is the outrage? When a democrat steals nickels and dimes…it is a felony. When a republican steals millions…well, I guess they run for president.
