Akin Shmakin.

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012 @ 1:08 pm | Abortion, Women

Ryan is even more extreme on abortion than Akin.

The thing is, like on any number of issues, Republicans try their hardest to avoid saying what they really think. Akin said it out loud, causing all manner of distancing efforts from Romney/Ryan/Reince etc., but when it comes down to how they intend to affect the lives of women, they’re identical, and so being chummy with dudes who think any woman who got pregnant couldn’t have been raped is no biggie. It just doesn’t even come on the radar.

    It’s the economy stupid.

  2. Henry Whistler Says:

George: And once again, you are simply unable to address the subject at hand.

And you suck at discussing the economy too. Spout your cherry-picked statistics, blame Obama for everything even though Republicans have been sabotaging the country for four years, and then scamper away.

Mitt Romney fails on every front, and his plans for the economy is to do the same stuff that trashed the economy in the first place. The economy is the only issue you think you have a halfway chance on, and even there you’re a lying fraud.

But that doesn’t seem to trouble you much.

The greatest part of the whole Akin episode? My FAVORITE excuse….I misspoke. It works so well on so many levels. Spout something racist? I misspoke. Spout something slanderous? I misspoke. Spout something incredibly stupid? I misspoke. Misspeaking means you aren’t clear about a topic. It certainly seemed clear that Akin was explaining that women can’t get pregnant by rape because their bodies have ways to reject conception in such instances. He may not have pulled out any scientific research (most likely filed behind the file on man and dinosaurs coexisting) but he certainly sounded like he was explaining his point of view.

  4. Henry Whistler Says:

George is like Mitt Romney here: No Akin questions please, pay no attention to the war on women!

The Tea Party had more than one function. It a) sabotaged the economy and held back any recovery efforts that would reflect well on Obama and b) unleashed a wave of anti-woman and anti-gay legislation wherever it could.

George would like us to pay attention to neither. George would like us to pay attention to nothing, except to reward that sabotage by incorrectly blaming Obama. That’s Rmoney’s campaign of lies, and George is signed up!

  5. George Says:

Incomes have fallen since 2009, what a *great* Obama recovery huh?

The unemployment rate for women is now at 9%, now THAT’s a war on women!

    Obama economic policy = fail.

  6. Henry Whistler Says:

Thanks for proving me 100% correct about you, George.

  7. George Says:

You and your trumped up war, it’s the economy stupid. Nobody is buying the GOP war against women mantra.

  8. Henry Whistler Says:

How about instead of denials, you stop waging it?

But honesty is a rare commodity from a party represented by pathological serial liar Mitt Romney, isn’t it?

And even he knows that repeating THE ECONOMY IS BAD BLAME OBAMA isn’t working, thus patently dishonest ads accusing Obama of undermining welfare, which nuts like you read as OBAMA IS HANDING OUT WELFARE CHECKS TO BLACKS.

It’s too bad that sabotaging America wasn’t quite enough to cinch things, isn’t it? And so you must dishonor yourself and the country more.

  9. AJKamper Says:

Women go for Obama 51-41. But GOP attitudes towards women don’t matter.

A good GOP candidate, with reasonable but still socially conservative views, ought to be able to win with this economy; I don’t think it was largely Obama’s fault, but the voters would still think he’s holding the bag.

It’s the Neandertal attitudes towards women and nonwhites that are going to hand this race to Obama. And then watch the infighting in the GOP!

Seriously, George, if Obama wins this election (and he’s got a pretty good shot at it right now: call it 2-in-3), why do you think that will be?

  10. Henry Whistler Says:

George won’t answer why, if the economy is such a slam-dunk issue, is Romney turning his blatantly false welfare reform charge into the crux of his campaign?

And before that, why was he resorting to snipping Obama quotes to mean things they clearly didn’t mean?

Why not just explain how Obama policies were bad for the economy, since it’s the economy stupid? Should be easy to do, right? You repeat it often enough, you must have some ideas that might hold up to scrutiny?

Why the HE’S A COMMIE and HE’S GIVING WELFARE CHECKS TO HIS BLACK FRIENDS AND TELLING THEM THEY DON’T HAVE TO WORK stuff?

And then you accuse me of creating a distraction?

I guess Republicans have just arrived at total peace with, “Lie, if it works.”

  11. George Says:

If Obama wins this election, it will be because he secured the moron vote, you being one of them. People want their *stuff*, their *free* handouts. They’re too interested in their own little circles of pop culture, social fun and the biggest TV they can buy, instead of what really matters – the course of the country.

    And the lies, all you.

  12. AJKamper Says:

    Wait, let’s think this through.

George thinks the real problem is the economy, and that if he yells loudly enough about it, people will blame Obama for it and vote for Romney.

But at the same time, he says that Obama will win because people are content with their lives.

But, if people are in general content with their lives, why would the economy possibly be a winning issue? People only care about the economy when their lives are miserable–when they don’t have enough.

Thus, George can’t really believe what he is saying. If the economy is a so bad that people’s lives suck, then they aren’t getting enough free handouts, and they’d be likely to BLAME Obama for this. It’s a completely contradictory reason.

  13. George Says:

Spin, it’s what liberals do. They can’t be honest, they can’t defend Obama’s abysmal record, so they lie, manipulate, distort, cheat, distract, muddy things to get you off focus.

    Unemployment rate: 8.3%
Unemployment rate for women: 9% (oh, and women in the Obama admin get paid less than men)
Food stamp usage at record highs
Government handouts, solicited, people are actually recruited to participate!
Deficit spending and national debt at record highs

Morons who think handouts are good, will vote Obama, and that’s how he’s campaigning. Need proof? Just read iowaliberal.com, it’s a moron’s perspective, an illogical view of American life.

  14. AJKamper Says:

Ha! It’s not MY fault your vision is blurry, dude. It’s a simple question: if the economy is so bad, and people vote based on how good they feel (otherwise they wouldn’t vote for handouts), then why would they vote for Obama?

You don’t know. You’re not making a bit of sense, and you’re either too stupid or too dishonest to realize it.

“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” -Mitch McConnell

  16. George Says:

Mitch McConnell was absolutely right, President Obama’s policies suck, the GOP knew that going in, so yes, kick him out after one term.

It’s totally logical. But liberals are incapable of logic.

The dishonesty is on the liberal side. Period. Obama policy sucks.

You can’t promote his record, you opt to poo-poo attempts of Romney instead.

    Quite telling.

You like and promote bigger government, more government dependency.

    It sells to morons.

    iowaliberal.com is written by morons.

  17. Henry Whistler Says:

Wow, I’ve seen some smart comments but that one was just really super intelligent. “President Obama’s policies suck.” Damn you, George, I am skewered!

I’m going to go poo-poo attempts of Romney now.
